The Council of Southeast Pennsylvania, Inc., is offering women in recovery an opportunity to break the cycle of addiction in their family. Celebrating Families™ is a free program designed to help children and families to be healthy, responsible and addiction free. “We’re offering this free, 13-session program to help women increase their knowledge of recovery and healthy living skills,” said Jessica Schwartz, community development coordinator for The Council. “It can also help foster resilience among children of addicted parents and build stronger families.” Each session will consist of a free family meal, a lesson on the topic of the week and a structured activity for the whole family. Families are also invited to participate in a variety of free activities outside of the sessions. This program is open to women who are currently receiving any type of treatment services and who have children between the ages of 3 to 18 years old. Participants must live or work in Bucks County. Funding for the program is provided through the Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. The sessions begin on April 10 and meet every Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the PRO-ACT Southern Bucks Recovery Community Center at 1286 Veterans Highway in Bristol.
