Are you in the know? What you may not see behind your teen’s closed doors

The School District of Borough of Morrisville’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers has partnered with the Bensalem Police Department to present a parental education demonstration, “Behind Closed Doors, a Parental Education Mock Teen Bedroom Display & Demonstration” on Tuesday, April 21st, at 6:00pm in the Morrisville Intermediate School parking lot.

The purpose of the demonstration is to empower and educate parents of potential warning signs or dangers involving young adolescent lives.

The demonstration includes a realistic re-creation of a mock teen bedroom that parents will walk through, emphasizing the hidden dangers that may be right under a parent’s nose.

Topics of discussion will include early warning signs of suicidal thoughts or self-harming tendencies, potential danger to others, other signs of risky behavior, drug use, unhealthy relationships, and both hidden and obvious mental health concerns.

There will be over 100 objects on display that can alert parents of hidden dangers found in a teen’s bedroom.

One example is a small drug bag stashed into the battery pocket of an alarm clock. Some objects are in plain sight and some are hidden in a new modern way.

Parents, teachers, educators, and community members can attend and receive this free educational resource. Event registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and space is limited.

Demonstrations are 30-minutes long, with consecutive sessions beginning at 6:00pm and ending at 9:00pm.

Please register by April 17th by calling or emailing the Coordinators below.
