ShopRite of Yardley associates work to ‘End Hunger Together’

ShopRite of Yardley unveiled a special-edition Cheerios box featuring the winners of its annual ShopRite Partners In Caring Cheerios Contest, sponsored in partnership with General Mills, on March 3rd.

The associates honored were Gene Friedland, of Lawrenceville, NJ and Frank Cartelli, of Yardley, in recognition of their fundraising efforts to support regional food banks.

This contest is a tradition that recognizes associates for fighting hunger in the communities where ShopRite stores operate.

ShopRite associates across hundreds of stores compete each fall in this friendly competition.

With this year’s contest theme, “Ending Hunger Together,” serving as the backdrop, ShopRite associates came together last September (Hunger Action Month) to collect donations at checkout and host in-store events, helping to raise $1.5 million for regional food banks in several states.

The 46 top fundraising ShopRite stores select two associates to be featured on special-edition Cheerios boxes, sold exclusively at ShopRite and unveiled during in-store celebrations in February and March.

Each winning store also received prize money ($3,000 for the top five stores, and $500 for the remaining winning stores) to be donated to local food pantries chosen by the respective store teams.

ShopRite of Yardley presented a check for $500 to Penndel Food Pantry, which is part of the Bucks County Housing Group.
