Maggie Groff, Bucks County Legislative Advisor to Planned Parenthood Keystone will provide a brief status update on proposed legislation both in Harrisburg and at the federal level. She will be joined by Melissa Reed, CEO of Planned Parenthood Keystone. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions, and take action. Lawmakers’ contact information and postcards will be provided. Informal networking with each other and BCWAC partners is encouraged.

“More than 99% of women have used some form of birth control at some point in their lives, so recent efforts to restrict federal Title X funding are baffling,” says BCWAC president Kathy Welsh Beveridge. “More than four million people rely on this funding to access affordable contraception and essential health care, including protection from sexually transmitted diseases. In addition to increasing STDs, the rollback of Title X is a policy change that is most likely to increase poverty, abortions, and children’s suffering while also reducing the economic participation of women and national prosperity.”

The Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition (BCWAC) is a nonpartisan coalition of more than 300 individual partners and 43 organization partners that serve women and families. We educate and advocate on behalf of women to promote systemic change to achieve gender equity and economic security for all.
