    Spotlight: Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation

The Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation (PSF) awarded $150,000 to 87 graduates of Pennsbury High School (PHS) in 2019 as part of its mission to help students in their quest for post-high school education.

Over the past 63+ years, more than 1,700 students have benefited from scholarships awarded by the PSF.

PHS seniors and graduates planning for college or other post-secondary education programs are encouraged to learn about the PSF application process early in high school to maximize their chances of qualifying for a scholarship.

PHS graduates can apply for a scholarship every year they are enrolled in a qualifying post-secondary education program.

All PSF scholarships are based on four equally weighted criteria: academic achievement, financial need, character, and leadership. Awards are comprised of one-half grant and one-half zero-interest loan.

The 2020 application is available on the PSF website, www.PennsburyScholarshipFoundation.org, and in the PHS guidance offices.

The deadline for applications is May 1st, 2020.

Scholarship recipients will receive their awards at a reception held on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020.

The screening of applications will be held on May 31st, 2020. Community volunteers are invited to participate and should contact PSF for more information.

The PSF relies heavily on contributions and support from the community.

In addition to tax-deductible monetary donations through its Donor Giving and Namesake Scholarship Programs, supporters may include a gift to the PSF in their estate plans or transfer shares of stock to the PSF.

Donors who are 70½ years or older can make tax-free contributions to the PSF and other qualified charities directly from their traditional IRAs. These gifts count toward required minimum distributions, can make more money available for donations (no taxes taken out) and can result in tax savings by reducing taxable income.

Consult your tax professional or IRA custodian for information specific to your situation.

The PSF is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, governed by an independent, all-volunteer Board of Directors.

All donations are tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes to the fullest extent of the law.

The success of the PSF depends on the generosity of many, and the impact of a gift in any amount is significant.

Donations can be made online at www.PennsburyScholarshipFoundation.org, or mailed to the PSF at P.O. Box 338, 134 Yardley Avenue, Fallsington, PA 19058.
