Manhattan Bagel in Richboro: Best neighborhood bagel shop

by Tianna G. Hansen

If you’re looking for a place to spice up your morning or afternoon, look no further than Manhattan Bagel in Richboro.

With delicious New York style freshly boiled and baked bagels, muffins that are baked fresh daily, deli sandwiches and so much more, you’ll find everything you’d hope for at this neighborhood bagel shop.

Grab a cup of Arabica coffee and choose from 240 combinations of bagels and cream cheese, four different pastries including muffins, freshly baked croissants, multi-grain bread, wraps, and sandwiches that are freshly made right in front of you.

“We aim to be the best bagel shop in the neighborhood,” says owner Ross Gelman, who took over ownership of the store one year ago this October. “Our bagels are New York style, boiled and allowed to rise naturally in the baking process.”

The boiling of the bagels is equal to searing a steak, giving a nice crust to the bagel and leaving the inside soft and scrumptious.

“Our bagel recipe hasn’t changed for 20 years.”

The Richboro store is the fourth store that Ross owns and it’s special to him because he lives in and is a big part of the Richboro community.

Store manager, Tim, has created an environment where customers always feel welcomed. His top priority is to provide the best service and to make sure the customer is always happy when they leave the Richboro Manhattan Bagel.

The store was designed and completely renovated to have a neighborhood feeling of warmth and comfort with a chiseled, clean, spotless, and well-stocked shop.

Walking in the door, you hear employees greeting customers by name and asking if they’d like their usual.

It’s a regular stop for many to begin their mornings right with a visit to this inviting Richboro location.

People can sit in and enjoy their bagel and coffee, or take their goodies to go.

Ross comes from a restaurant-owning background; his first job was helping his father run a pizza restaurant in Holland, so he grew up being surrounded by food service and has a natural knack for serving customers.

“Our focus is on the customer,” says Ross. “With new specials and gift card giveaways, there is always something special brewing for our customers.”

In the fall season, Manhattan Bagel is excited to offer seasonal favorites including pumpkin bagels and cream cheese.

The shop also offers omelets, fruit salads, parfaits and many more options.

If you’re looking for breakfast or lunch catering, Manhattan Bagel can put together a box of delicious offerings for you.

The newest addition to this special Richboro store is an espresso bar offering espressos and cappuccinos as well as their regular coffee offerings to pair even better with the delicious food.

Ross’s commitment to the brand and the neighborhood resulted in a massive and complete remodel of the store with an addition of this espresso bar and other frozen drinks.

Richboro Manhattan Bagel will deliver to you and often brings their food to local schools.

“We like to be part of our community,” says Ross.

On Tuesday, November 5th, the Richboro location will host a Customer Appreciation Day celebration and donate 10% of their proceeds to a Hometown Heroes local veteran’s association, helping honor first responders and the military by providing wreaths for their gravesites.

“It’s enjoyable to see the donation at work,” Ross says. “I want to continue giving back to our community.”
