Marie Mueller Glinske celebrated her 102nd birthday at a special party hosted at the Central Bucks Senior Activity Center (CBSAC) on August 15th.
The celebration included her family and friends, members of the CBSAC, a pianist to join in song to wish her a happy birthday, handmade birthday gifts by crafters from CBSAC, and a citation from the State Representative Wendy Ullman.
Marie was born on August 16th, 1917 in the vicinity of 12th & Girard, Philadelphia.
She has lived in the Philadelphia area all her life.
Marie married John Glinske in 1940 and they moved to Nicetown where they raised three children, Marie, John and Kathy.
The family spent time in Feltonville then moved to Horsham where she lived for 33 years.
Marie and her husband shared an in-law suite until he passed away in 2002 after 62 years of marriage.
Marie is an active mother of three, grandmother of six, great-grandmother of three and great-great-grandmother of two.
Being an active craft member at the CBSAC for nine years, she loves to do crafts, and is especially fond of using plastic canvas.
She has made clothing with her love of sewing and also made slipcovers for her furniture.
Marie made an entire train set one Christmas and many holiday decorations.
“We are so happy to be able to celebrate this 102nd birthday with her and her family and members of the center,” said Arlene Newman, the Craft Coordinator at CBSAC who planned the special celebration.
When asked what her secret to longevity was, Marie answered, “I’ve eaten right all my life.”
Happy Birthday Marie, and here’s to another happy and healthy year!
