A new collaboration

Trail Tales, a new education collaboration between the Playwicki Farm and the Township Library of Lower Southampton, sponsored by the Friends of the Lower Southampton Library, is now open and free to the public along the walking trail of the 110-acre historic farm located at 2350 Bridgetown Pike in Feasterville.

Pictured at the trail opening (from left) are Ray Weldie, chairman of the Lower Southampton Township Supervisors, Brittany Eastman, youth services librarian for the library, Rose McMenamin, president of the Playwicki Farm Foundation and Deborah Kaplan a Lower Southampton Township supervisor.

Trail Tales is based on the children’s book, “Shadbush Blooms” by Carla Messinger and Susan Katz.

The book tells the story of a contemporary Lenape Indian child narrating her way through how her grandparents lived and how her family lives today and offers a way to connect that with the history of the farm and Bucks County in general.

Trail Tales offers an excellent way to encourage healthy habits and literacy skills, while walkers complete the extension activities depicted on the trail signs they encounter along the way.
