    Window Treatments 101

    submitted by Helene O’Connor, Fringe Benefits, Custom Drapery & More!

    When a Window Treatment Designer is interviewed by a potential client, several key points should be discussed.

    First, the Designer should explain all services that will be provided such as:

    *Preliminary measurements and gathering of pertinent project information;

    *Design presentation, including concept drawing, fabric selections and labor estimates;

    *Fabrication of the finished product and supervision of the installation.

    Second, the Client should be made aware of all fees and payments including retainers, deposits, shipping/handling and sales taxes.

    Lastly, the Designer must explain any special terms and conditions such as delays due to fabric back-orders, changes to purchase orders and final drawing approvals.

    Of course, a very important decision is that of the Client’s budget.

    This is a key element that will not only help the Designer make the best decisions but help earn the client’s trust and respect for the Designer as a professional.
