Regan Ward earns Silver Award

Regan Ward, a student at Pennwood Middle School and a member of Girl Scout Troop #2268, recently completed her Girl Scout Silver Award project: “Teaching Flag Etiquette – The Correct Way to Dispose of a Worn American Flag.”

Reagan produced an educational handout detailing US Flag Code (Section 176) and collected more than 100 flags from her school and community locations. She is pictured with VFW Commander Russ Davidson, Post 6393, delivering the flags for proper retirement.

Regan and her brother, Ryan, a Post 6393 Patriot’s Pen essay finalist, devote time, usually up to two weeks, from their summer vacation volunteering at the Travis Mills Foundation in Rome, Maine.

The foundation supports recalibrated veterans and their families through long-term programs that help our heroic men and women overcome physical obstacles, strengthen their families, and provide well-deserved rest and relaxation.
