Carousel Gardens Nursery – Share in the excitement of gardening!

by Tianna G. Hansen

If you’re not sure where to begin with your gardening this year or you’re looking for that perfect plant to bring your summer landscape to fruition, a visit to the professionals such as Carousel Gardens Nursery in Newtown area is the answer!

This special Master Nursery Garden Center focuses on carrying everything you might need for gardening with a large variety of plant material including trees, shrubs and flowers.

Their Bumper Crop organic soils and fertilizers provide a sure road to success.

In particular, you can find all the products you’ll need to grow organically.

In 1995 Carousel Gardens Nursery began on a three-acre parcel in the newly formed Carousel Village.

Carousel Village is comprised of a natural food market, ice cream shop, antique shop and a boutique.

There is also a fitness center located behind the natural food market.

This eclectic setting offers Carousel Gardens the opportunity to thrive amidst other shops, in particular the existence of the natural food market, making it suitable for Carousel Garden Nursery’s focus on sustainable and organic gardening.

Living only five minutes away, owner Wayne Kunkelman was anxious to be one of the anchor stores in the Village.

Today, as it has been from the beginning, Carousel Gardens Nursery endeavors to beautify Bucks County.

Their experienced and knowledgeable staff, most who have been there from the beginning, are truly pleasant people who love gardening and enjoy sharing their knowledge.

Carousel Gardens Nursery also plants trees and shrubs, which they outsource through their partner PLANT Design Group who will go out and plant the trees for customers who need some help.

PLANT Design Group will design and install beautiful landscapes and quality hardscapes.

“We carry a broad inventory of perennial and annual plants, mums and vegetable plants,” noted Wayne. “We have a large selection in our greenhouse, and what we don’t grow, we buy and stock from the best local growers we can find.”

As one of their focuses is sustainable vegetable gardening, it may help to know a little about this.

Sustainable vegetable gardening means not tearing down the soil with overuse, continuing to apply organic matter to keep the soil healthy and ongoing instead of burning it out or not taking care of it.

Wayne suggests to all gardeners to not apply toxic weed killers and insecticides to your vegetable garden.

These sustainable practices ensure your garden will come back healthy every year, with soil ready to nourish whatever plants and flowers you want to surround your home with.

Carousel Gardens also carries a line of flowering plants with the following gardening products that you won’t find at your commercial garden centers: Proven Winners, Garden Elements, Garden Splendor, Deerlirious Plants, and their organic vegetables which are Peace Tree Organics.

Whatever season, Carousel Gardens will strive to have just what you need when you need it.

During the fall around Labor Day, Carousel Gardens comes alive with a celebration of autumn and the harvest season at which time they offer pumpkins, squash, gourds in all sizes and shapes.

They also open their Pumpkin Coral which is a play area for young children, a small corn maze, and they run family hay rides on weekends in October.

Christmas season begins around Thanksgiving and they carry a broad line of custom-decorated fresh wreaths and greens arrangements.

They also offer custom-decorated and their own decorated patio pots in festive colors with a wide variety of fresh greenery.

You’ll be sure to find something here whatever the season and whatever your vision for your landscape and garden.
