Rotary Club of Shady Brook fuels support for Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic

The Rotary Club of Shady Brook will hold its sixth “Short Stack for a Tall Cause” flapjack fundraiser to benefit Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic on Saturday, April 6th.

The breakfast is scheduled from 8:00 to 10:00am, at Applebee’s Grill and Bar, 2 West Road in the Newtown Shopping Center. The cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children, three to 12.

Angel Flight’s mission is to ensure that no one in need is denied medical care because of a lack of transportation. The nonprofit’s more than 500 volunteer pilots flew 1,121 trips last year and contributed $1.85 million for transportation of patients and their families.

Every year, 28% of Angel Flight trips are for children and their caregivers.

“During the five years of our partnership with Applebee’s and Angel Flight, we have served more than 850 pancakes and donated nearly $7,500 to transport patients,” said Rotary Club President Jeff Revak. “We are extremely proud of our efforts to raise public awareness of the humanitarian services this acclaimed nonprofit organization performs.”

The club’s relationship with Angel Flight began when a Villas at Shady Brook resident was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh where he underwent a successful heart transplant.
