Everyone deserves a decent place to live

Families are just trying to make ends meet.

Everywhere you look – cities, suburbs, rural areas – the stability that home should bring remains out of reach for too many families.

One in every six U.S. households pays half or more of their income for a place to live, forcing them to make impossible choices between housing or healthy foods, transportation or even medicine.

Cost of housing is rising quickly and wages are struggling to keep up. Wages have remained stagnant over the past decade.

A safe, decent affordable home plays a critical role in helping families create lives filled with possibility and progress.

Caught in cycles of unpredictable rent increases, overcrowded conditions, or lack of access to land and affordable housing, many families live with a constant burden of uncertainty, stress and fear. Communities are facing shortages of safe, decent and affordable homes and the need is growing exponentially.

An affordable mortgage improves overall ease of living, which improves time spent at work, in school and focusing on personal health and wellbeing.

A stable home is about more than just dollars and cents though.

It is also about a home’s connection to jobs, green space, good schools, and essential goods and services.

Homes are the most substantial investment that most American families make and they typically account for two thirds of a household’s overall wealth.

Every family deserves a chance to thrive, a chance to invest in themselves and in their community.
