Danis Auto has expanded its decades-old, family-owned car sales business beyond Philadelphia and into Bucks County.
The dealership opened its “Danis Auto on the Boulevard” shop in October at 2399 Old Lincoln Highway, near where Route 1 becomes the Roosevelt Boulevard along the Bensalem-Philadelphia border.
Dani Levi opened the original Danis Auto on Harbison Avenue in Philadelphia more than 20 years ago – a decade after he had emigrated from Israel to the United States.
His son, Joe, a 2015 magna cum laude graduate of Temple University, now runs both the Philadelphia and Bensalem operations.
The dealership has an inventory of more than 300 gently used and certified pre-owned vehicles split between the two locations, including a wide range of makes and models of cars, trucks, SUVs and vans that have been reconditioned to “like new” status.
Most of the vehicles are five years old or less and have low mileage.
Danis Auto embraces all potential customers, ranging from people considered to be poor loan risks, to those who have superior credit ratings.
The approach is quite successful. The business has grown from roughly $5 million in sales in 2013 to more than $40 million in 2018.
The rapid revenue growth earned Danis Auto a “Philly 100” designation in 2017 for being one of the fastest growing privately-held companies in the region.
The dealer makes shopping for cars an adventure with every customer getting the chance to “Pop That Trunk” to see what gift they get to take home. Danis Auto documents many of its sales at https://www.facebook.com/danisauto/.
The dealership regularly incorporates community service into its business operation.
It will stage several fundraisers this year for Philabundance. The business will donate two meals to help the hungry for every “like” it gets on its Facebook page.
Danis has staged the food drives since 2016, when it first donated 3,000 meals to Philabundance after receiving 1,500 Facebook likes in a week’s time.
The dealer also will host several Alex’s Lemonade Stands this summer to battle childhood cancer. Danis staged one lemonade stand event in the summer of 2018 and raised about $650, spokesman Jake Levin said.
The Danis family was also proud to answer a call for help from a teenager in West Philadelphia last winter.
The teen reached out to the dealership because the old van her mother used to transport her severely disabled sister and other family members broke down. Danis representatives agreed to go to the family’s home to check out the van to see what repairs were needed.
But when they got there, the Danis representatives surprised the family with an “absolutely free” blue van valued at $15,000 to use to get to medical appointments and other engagements.
“It was an unbelievable feeling seeing the smiles on their faces,” Joe Levi said. “It meant so much to them, and we completely caught them by surprise and off-guard.”
Danis Auto on the Boulevard is open from 9:30am to 7:30pm, Monday through Friday, and 9:30am to 5:00pm on Saturday.
