The Friends of the Yardley-Makefield Library is a group of volunteers who donate time to assist with library tasks and to raise funds for the betterment of the library.
Their primary fundraiser is the book and media sale held each year.
All of the items sold are donated by the public, and then reviewed and organized by the Friends. The community has shown overwhelming support for the book sales with their attendance and donations of good quality books, audio books, DVDs, CDs, and puzzles.
In 2018, the Friends donated $15,000 to the Summer Reading Program at the library.
Funds raised have been used to update the landscaping and purchase mobile shelving units.
The Friends also sponsor the Saturday programs as well as the Thursday morning Chair Yoga sessions. These free, entertaining and educational programs are well received by the public.
This year their Book Sale will be in August (dates and times to be announced). Prices typically range from 50 cents to three dollars. There will also be some specially priced items available.
The Friends’ website, www.YMFriends.org, contains information about the organization, upcoming library programs and book sales.
Those interested in receiving updates on book sales and programs can join their e-mail list on the Friends’ website.
