The Bucks County Gilbert & Sullivan Society

The Bucks County Gilbert & Sullivan Society is beginning its 11th season as our area’s theatrical home for the glorious music and wit of Victorian musical legends W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan.

This June the group brings the hilariously villainous (but duty-bound) buccaneers of The Pirates of Penzance to the stage at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown on June 14th, 15th and 16th, accompanied by the Bucks County Gilbert & Sullivan Orchestra.

The Society will hold singing auditions for the pirates and maidens in the chorus on Sunday, February 24th starting at 7:30pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2631 Durham Road (corner of Routes 413 and 202), Buckingham.

These auditions are open to the public. Please e-mail leefmilhous@verizon.net to schedule a time for your audition that evening.

With delightful songs such as Poor Wand’ring One and I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General, plus memorable characters such as the charming leap-year lovers Frederic and Mabel and the glorious Pirate King, The Pirates of Penzance will be a musical romp that the whole family will enjoy.

Every autumn the Society stages a Dessert Cabaret featuring Gilbert & Sullivan favorites and Broadway gems, and in December they host a Messiah Sing-Along with exceptional soloists, full orchestra and hundreds of local singers.

Throughout the year they also sing for many community events.

The Society encourages singers to come and audition, and further information on auditions is at www.BucksGilbertAndSullivan.org.
