Newtown Chamber Orchestra

The Newtown Chamber Orchestra is among the excellent arts organizations contributing to the rich cultural tradition of Bucks County.

Founded in 1990 by Russell Hoffmann, Milton Schwartz. M.D. and Craig Smith, the Orchestra offers a selection of classical music repertoire suited to small orchestra.

The ensemble of professional musicians is joined by local and internationally known soloists to present works from Baroque to Contemporary.

In addition to its regular concert season, the Orchestra performs at sites throughout Bucks County and surrounding areas serving as a guest ensemble for other organizations and for private functions.

In keeping with its mission to educate and entertain the public in the art of classical music, speakers introduce performances with relevant music “notes.”

Also, NCO promotes new chamber orchestra works by contemporary composers, features soloists, and encourages young musicians throughout the area with its annual youth programs.

The concert season runs from July 1st to June 30th, with a three-concert series.

In addition, the orchestra has given special performances at other sites throughout Bucks County and the surrounding area, including Bristol, Newtown, and Yardley and Fairless Hills.

It also serves as a guest orchestra for other organizations and private functions.

In 2000, Newtown Chamber Orchestra accepted an invitation to perform in the Santander Music Festival in Spain making it the only American professional chamber orchestra participant.

Its educational outreach program consists of Kids Connect to the Classics concerts and Young Musicians Competition.
