Every year, American families welcome international students into their homes.
Host families help students integrate into American life like no tourist experience can.
Families help international students experience their schools and communities, play on their teams, sit at their tables, and share new perspectives.
What an amazing way to spread global understanding and friendship!
At International Experience USA (www.ie-usa.org), there are nine students awaiting placements for the second semester.
This is the perfect opportunity for a family that is not 100% sure they want to commit for an entire school year.
Viktoria, 16, from Austria, says, “I’m a very friendly, polite girl. I’m open-minded and I help people if they need me. My hobbies are singing, dancing, acting, and meeting my friends. I’m looking forward to going on exchange and improving my English, getting to know people and their culture.”
There are nine more students who want to come to the US.
All students speak English.
Families provide a bed, preferably a private room, a space to study, meals, and reasonable transportation to activities.
Host parents are not limited to the “traditional” idea of mom/dad headed households.
Families are not paid for hosting and students have their own spending money.
Your local coordinator will verify that your school district accepts new students for the second semester.
If you can imagine starting this New Year by opening your life to an international student, here’s your chance!
