A birder can be someone who occasionally takes note of the birds in their backyard or surrounding areas, or someone who travels to watch birds, studies the subtleties of birds’ behavior, variations in plumage, nesting habits and variations in their songs – or anyone in-between.
The goals of BCB include: helping to inform the general public about birds, encouraging anyone who is interested to learn about birds, introducing beginners to the world of birds and to support more-experienced birders in their quest to expand their knowledge.
They also promote environmental awareness in Bucks County and nearby areas.
The BCB meet the fourth Tuesday of every month except December.
At meetings they discuss local bird sightings and upcoming events of interest to birders.
For the main portion of the meeting they have speakers who talk about various topics of interest to birders.
The topics range from photos and discussions of trips taken around the country and around the world, to discussions about specific birds and their behaviors.
They also have related topics such as how to create a garden to attract birds and butterflies.
If you’re interested, feel free to attend one of their meetings before deciding if you want to join.
They meet at the Peace Valley Nature Center (for directions visit http://www.peacevalleynaturecenter.org/directions/) and meetings begin at 7:30pm.
