Have fun over Winter Break at the Southampton Free Library

Keep the kids and yourself entertained over Winter Break with these fun and free programs.

Are you looking for something fun and free to do the week between Christmas and New Year’s?  Southampton Free Library will be offering a variety of programs that week to entertain all ages!

Starting on December 26th, school aged children, ages 8 and up, are welcome to participate in the library’s Slime Lab at 2:00 PM!  Create your own unique ooey-gooey slime at our slime lab. Decorate the container it goes into and then enter it into one of our slime contest categories. Prizes will be given away for best sounding slime, prettiest slime, etc. Please register each child attending individually at www.southamptonfreelibrary.org

On December 27th, all ages are invited to interact with the classic movie, Princess Bride, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.  Become an active participant by blowing bubbles, having glow stick sword fights, and respond to characters during our screening of this beloved classic movie. Romance, Comedy, Swashbuckling Pirates, this movie has it all! Please register for this event on our online calendar.

Finally on December 28th, come celebrate the “Noon” Year! Starting at 11:30 AM, celebrate the end of 2018 by singing songs, playing games, and enjoying movement activities with YoYo from the interactive duo, Lolly and Yoyo (lollyandyoyo.com). The program is recommended for children ages birth-8 and walk-in until space is filled.

By offering these events over winter break, the Southampton Free Library hopes to expand access to new and different formats and provide the necessary tools to learn new skills.  It seeks to be a community educational center that is more than just books.  To learn more about Southampton Free Library’s unique offerings, please visit our website www.southamptonfreelibrary.org or calling the library at (215)322-1415.
