State Rep. Perry Warren recently announced the Council Rock, Morrisville and Pennsbury school districts were each awarded $25,000 in school safety grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
The funding comes through Act 44, a law adopted over the summer that created a School Safety and Security Committee within PCCD.
Districts that submitted a meritorious application were eligible for $25,000 to support activities such as performing school safety assessments, purchasing security-related technology and equipment, supporting safety-related and behavioral health trainings, and more.
“I voted to support the creation of this grant program, because keeping our children safe is the most important responsibility we have,” said Perry, D-Bucks. “Students and staff deserve to feel safe at school, and I’m pleased that all three of the school districts I represent, Council Rock, Morrisville and Pennsbury, took steps to bring this funding to their schools and enhance their security programs.”
Additional competitive grants are expected to be released later this year. More information on the grants can be found on the PCCD website.
