Giving the gift of warmth

Doylestown resident Meryl Russo is the founder of “one warm scarf,” an organization that reaches out each year to our most vulnerable during the cold fall and winter seasons.

“Our mission is to provide warm scarves to homeless men in Philadelphia and surrounding areas,” Meryl said. “Last year, our volunteers worked tirelessly and we were able to provide 150 scarves to those in need.”

This year “one warm scarf’s” goal is to exceed last year’s donations and provide warmth for many more people in need.

The organization will donate scarves to Allentown Rescue Mission, Broad Street Ministry, Saint John’s Hospice Homeless Shelter for Men, and Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission.

“one warm scarf” needs volunteers to knit or crochet warm scarves.

The organization also collects clean, gently-used scarves.

Meryl encourages residents in Doylestown and surrounding areas to spread the word to family, friends and neighbors to support this incredibly worthy cause.

“We are so grateful for the support we’ve received thus far, and we thank this years’ volunteers and donors in advance for their support.”
