Mount Saint Joseph Academy Spotlight

Mount Saint Joseph Academy (the Mount), located in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, is an all-girls Catholic college preparatory school for grades 9-12.

Imbued with a spirit of unity by the founding Sisters of Saint Joseph and enriched by the values of the Catholic Church, the Mount offers academically rigorous programs that challenge students to shape the future.

In a student-centered, collaborative environment, Mount Saint Joseph Academy provides a holistic education with an emphasis on global responsibility.

The Mount offers its students several differentiators:

*With a block-scheduling format, students take three or four courses per term, for a total of eight courses per year. This allows them to go more in-depth with their studies, and makes the transition to college semesters seamless.

*New for the 2018-2019 is the Innovation Center, an open, accessible, and flexible workspace designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. Created to encourage collaboration and innovative thought, the Innovation Center gives students and teaching colleagues permission to work however they feel they are at their best: in groups, on the floor, on stability ball chairs, quietly alone, at large tables, in collaboration, or on parallel paths…a place where students can try new approaches and cross-curricular projects. It is fully equipped with the latest technology (3D printers, drones, VR goggles, Spheros, and more).

*True to the mission of “educating founders,” the Mount offers the Women As Founders seminar course. In this selective course, students study the con, culminating in a senior year capstone project.

*The Mount also offers an award-winning crew team, as well as 11 other varsity-level athletic teams.

We encourage all fifth, sixth, seventh, and eight graders to attend the Mount’s Open House on Sunday, October 21st, from noon-3:00pm.

“On the education of women largely depends the future of society.”
