Langhorne Rotary news

At the weekly Langhorne Rotary meeting on May 31st, the core members (officers) of the Neshaminy High School Interact Club presented a program outlining their many projects of the past school year. There were 230+ student members this year.

Not only were the members of the Interact involved in helping the Langhorne Rotary with the Pet Fair and the MLK Pasta Dinner, but the club raised funds for Hurricane Relief and The Sunshine Foundation.

They made blankets for homeless teens, and collected toys during the holidays. The also sponsored a number of programs at the school to raise funds for programs such as Neshaminy Got Talent. The Faculty Advisor for the Interact Club, Ms. Suzi Drake, was also recognized by the club for her leadership and support.

This past school year the Langhorne Rotary sponsored an exchange student from Tokyo, who has been a student at Neshaminy High School and also a member of the Interact. Kanako Akai has had a wonderful year thanks to her hosts, the Rotary District program and the school. She will be returning home in July.

On Wednesday, June 6th, the club sponsored a Community Leadership Forum, which was a special opportunity for leaders in business, government, education, hospital, and religion to discuss the challenges and needs we face in our community.

Forty attendees shared their thoughts and recommendations. The forum was led by Bill Kauffmann, a member of the Langhorne Rotary. Plans are being made for follow-up meetings.

Ward McMasters, Meryl Brut, Dave Davis and Bill Kaufmann joined more than 25000 Rotarians from all over the world. The club is also one of the sponsors of the Langhorne Borough Business Association Summer Concert in Langhorne every other Wednesday during June, July and August.
