BCOC to host Poverty Simulation May 21st

On Monday May 21st, The Bucks County Opportunity Council, in partnership with Holy Family University in Newtown, One Campus Drive, Newtown is hosting a Poverty Simulation event from 9:00am – 12:00pm to increase awareness of the realities of living in poverty for Community Action Month. The Poverty Simulation is designed to help participants understand what it might be like to live in a low-income family trying to move beyond survival and achieve sustainable economic self-sufficiency. Participants will role play a person living in poverty for four abbreviated weeks. The simulation will be followed by a discussion of your experience and the Bucks County Opportunity Council’s approach to helping people move beyond poverty.

This activity is FREE and open to anyone in the community who is interested in learning more about poverty. Registration is REQUIRED. Register HERE. Participants must be age sixteen or older. More information at bcoc.org.
