Maintenance is the key to life itself. Homes are maintained, computers, even our own bodies.
Probably one of the most difficult things to maintain is your own home! And one of the most easily forgotten items to maintain is your garage door(s) and its motor.
Proper maintenance is required for an extensive life span. There are several steps you need to follow to keep your garage door and its motor maintained.
When you are opening and closing your garage door, always be cognizant for any unusual sounds or movements from the door or motor. Even the slightest loose bolt can cause a substantial problem.
Make certain that the tracks and springs are kept clean from dirt and debris.
Newer motors have little sensors at the bottom of the garage door track that look at one another to make sure there are no items in their way.
One of the most important steps to ensuring that your garage door works correctly and lasts longer, is using lubricant every six months on the door and motor.
A highly recommended lubricant is WD-40. Evenly spray the track, springs, bolts, and the rail connected to the motor.
Your garage doors is the largest moving item on your home. Following these simple steps will ensure that your garage door and its motor last as long as possible, keeping your home everlasting and beautiful!
