Michelle’s endeavor benefited The Superhero Project, which provides specialty hats for preemies in local NICUs (neonatal intensive care unit). Preemie babies have a hard time regulating their body temperature and hats are one of the few items that babies in the NICU are allowed to wear from the outside world.
The Superhero Project provides special hats that preemies can wear to make picture-taking special.
The group did not offer patterns, so Michelle created an e-book of 12 patterns in four sizes and led her team in crocheting and donating over 300 hats.
Michelle has been a Girl Scout for 12 years and in the summer, she serves as a Counselor at Girl Scout’s Oakville Day Camp.
An Ambassador Scout, Michelle was selected as a presenter in 2017 and as an emcee in 2016 at Philadelphia’s Girl Scouts of Eastern PA Take the Lead Awards, our local Girl Scout council’s largest corporate fundraising event “honoring our community’s most distinguished women whose leadership and professional achievements make the world a better place.”
The Pennsbury High School junior sings in the Women’s Ensemble, writes for the Pennsbury Voice and volunteers with the UNICEF Club. She bowls for the Morrisville Lanes Junior League, plays piano, is an alter server at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church and is a member of Our Lady’s Rosary Makers.
Michelle interns at BCPAC’s Children’s Musical Theatre during the summer. She is the daughter of Mark and Lisa Pellegrino of Lower Makefield.
