Juniper Village of Bucks County’s motto, “Nurturing the Spirit of Life,” best describes this modern, active adult senior living and life plan community.
Juniper Village at Bucks County, formerly known as Wood River Village Retirement Community, transitioned to new ownership in late 2016. It is currently undergoing a $9.5 million renovation of its “Village Center” that will further enhance daily living and socialization for residents of this picturesque, college-like campus conveniently located in the heart of Bensalem.
“We have fantastic options for our residents and for anyone considering moving here,” says Marketing Director Pamela McDonnell. Approximately 300 residents live within the community in 13 interconnecting buildings on 20.5 acres located only 20 miles from downtown Philadelphia.
Residents must be age 62 or over and Medicare-eligible to live at Juniper Village in one of the 279 independent living apartments which include studios, one or two bedrooms, or two- or three-bedroom suites. Every apartment is renovated and modernized with new appliances, carpet, fresh paint and an enclosed screened balcony or patio on the first or second floor of the residential buildings.
In addition, Juniper Village offers an on-site 5-star rated rehabilitation and skilled nursing care unit, 60 licensed personal care beds and 17 licensed skilled nursing beds. Juniper Village employs 220 staff. “We truly believe that our employees need to nurture the mind, body and soul of each individual in our community,” Pamela says.
“We offer our residents three Life Care living options so that we can find the right fit for each individual person,” she says. The Life Care options and highlights include:
- Type A, Life Care Contract which provides housing, services and amenities and unlimited access to long-term skilled care at little or no additional costs.
- Type C, Fee-for-Service Contract which includes housing, services and amenities as defined in the contract and access to higher levels of care such as long term nursing care.
- Rental Model which is a straightforward rental agreement with higher levels of care subject to market rates and availability.
Eligible residents must be able to live independently when moving into Juniper Village; however the life plan community offers residents the convenience and peace of mind of accessing short term or longer term health and medical care, as needed.
In addition, residents receive many stress-free amenities such as complimentary community-wide Wi-Fi, cable television, one daily meal and other dining options, all apartment utilities (excluding landline telephones), heating, air conditioning, 24/7 security in all residential buildings and common areas, access to eight elevators, reserved parking spots, pet-friendly living, transportation options for doctor’s appointments, church services, shopping malls and grocery stores and an extensive array of activities, holiday and social events for all interests.
Built in 1981, Juniper Village provides other conveniences “under one roof” such as an art studio, a full library, beauty salon, crafts and activity areas, a café, a gym and therapeutic pool and opportunities to join many social committees.
“Socialization is one of the best benefits of living here,” notes Pamela. Juniper Village’s Signature Programs accentuate Juniper’s mission to encourage an active body, engaged mind and fulfilled spirit. The Signature Programs offer life-long learning opportunities, support environmentally conscious activities and events, offer traditional and complementary care programs, provide state-of-the-art memory care services for residents experiencing memory challenges, share the joy of good food and dining, celebrate all cultures and diversity in addition to many more amenities and lifelong learning programs.
