Baja Fresh® Mexican Grill

Jigar Patel remembers eating at Baja Fresh four times a week, every week, while attending college.

“I loved its freshness, its varied menu and its unique flame-grilled flavor,” Jigar describes. “At the young age of 18, I told my friends I was going to own a Baja Fresh someday.”

Jigar’s wish came true four months ago when he opened Baja Fresh at 551 E. State Street in Trevose. Although part of a national franchise, this new location is the only Baja Fresh in Pennsylvania.

Jigar owns this business with his brother, Shirag Patel; his brother-in-law, Jignesh Patel; and his cousin, Ajay Patel, and therefore, this is a family-owned establishment. Jigar is a hands-on owner who cooks, prepares food, waits on customers and even deliveries catering trays.

While giving a tour of Baja Fresh, he points to a window in the back that customers can look through to see fresh vegetables. He explains that the goal of Baja Fresh is to provide customers with the freshest, highest quality Mexican food.

With the exception of dried ingredients, nothing served is prepackaged, canned, frozen or microwaved.

“Our food is made from scratch on the premises,” says Jigar. “We marinate whole chicken breasts, trim any fat off of meat and chop our own vegetables.”

Unlike most other casual Mexican food establishments, Baja Fresh includes fresh fish and shrimp on its menu. It also offers a variety of Mexican favorites, such as four different types of tacos, taquitos, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, nachos, Baja bowls and even soup and salads!

All meals are oversized so you receive huge portions, a great value for your money. A favorite at Baja Fresh is its all-you-can eat self-service salsa bar.

It’s stocked with fresh salsa ranging from mild to spicy, including Baja Fresh’s signature fire-roasted Salsa Baja™. Chips are free with any meal, so after you order, get some of Baja Fresh’s unique grilled tortillas, select your salsa and relax in this comfortable, casual and clean restaurant while your meal is prepared just the way you like it.

From now through April, Baja Fresh’s promotional item is its Crave-A-Bowl, consisting of zucchini, corn, in addition to salsa, rice and chicken marinade created specifically for this dish. You can order it with steak, shrimp, chicken or vegetables.

“There is so much food in this Crave-A-Bowl that I have yet to see one person finish it,” says Jigar.

Baja Fresh also has a catering menu, ideal for birthday parties, graduation parties, business lunches and other special occasions. According to Jigar, a popular catering selection is the fajita fiesta, which comes with everything you could possibly want in a fajita.

After delivering your order, Jigar calls to ensure you and your guests enjoyed the food.

“Customers really appreciate this personalized attention,” says Jigar.

“Since this restaurant is new to the area, I also try to go to every table to introduce myself and to ask how customers like our food,” says Jigar. “I listen to their feedback and strive to accommodate any requests they have. So far, I’ve received very positive reviews.”

You can also have your food delivered through the mobile app, Uber Eats. Jigar works and lives in Trevose, and therefore, encourages local schools and sports teams to hold fundraisers at Baja Fresh. Fifteen percent of the proceeds will be donated to your organization.
