Doylestown chorus offering singing lessons for men

Audiences may enjoy listening to a cappella harmony, according to Bobby Gualtieri, but those who sing it seem to get the most from it. “You have to experience the joy of singing with others, when your voice combines with those other voices, the voices of your friends. It’s exhilarating.”

In an effort to help men experience the joy of singing harmony, the Bucks County Country Gentlemen chorus is presenting “Ready, Set, Sing,” a series of free singing lessons.

The program will be offered at 7:00pm Tuesdays, from February 21st through March 21st, at the Lenape Middle School, 313 W. State Street, Doylestown.

Each session will be 90 minutes. There is no cost for the lessons or materials.

“Many folks sing in the car or shower, but don’t have the confidence to sing with others,” Bobby said. “It’s partly because things sound different in your head than they do in the air. We’re going to help you learn to sing or to sing better with others, and to get the most out of your voice.”

There is no requirement to read music.

Every age is welcome, from teens to seniors. “You can be 15, 55, or 85,” commented Stephanie Brictson, Master Director of the Bucks County Country Gentlemen and Jersey Sound choruses, who will lead the “Ready, Set, Sing” program.

The chapter, a non-profit organization with a focus on bringing joy and song to the community, performs across a wide area (Doylestown, Perkasie, Warrington, Abington, Jenkintown, Newtown, Bristol, etc.) and invites all men within driving distance to participate.

Although no sign-up for the lessons program is required, the group prefers that participants either call or e-mail David Mindel at 215-300-0202 (dmindel@verizon.net) or go to www.buckscountybarbershop.com/rss so materials can be prepared.
