COMMUNITY GUIDEBOOK PROFILE: Bucks County Symphony

The Bucks County Symphony is the premier community orchestra in Bucks County. The Symphony is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission of serving the community by providing residents with a local, affordable venue for enjoying classical music.

The orchestra musicians range from talented high school students to experienced community members, who perform five concerts each year under the skillful direction of Maestro Gary S. Fagin. The concert season consists of a fall, winter and spring Concert, a Youth Concert featuring the winner of the Symphony’s annual youth concerto competition, and performances by the Symphony musicians and Central Bucks student musicians. The annual Pops Concert traditionally features a Broadway performer.

Each concert is performed with an energy and passion unique to the orchestra under the dynamic leadership of Music Director Gary S. Fagin. The Symphony’s annual Winter Concert will be held on Saturday, February 25th at 8:00pm at Central Bucks High School South. This concert will feature internationally acclaimed pianist Sara Daneshpour, who will perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto #1 with the Orchestra. Ms. Daneshpour was the Gold Medal winner of the 2007 International Russian Music piano competition.

On Sunday, March 25th, Broadway singer/actress Judy Kuhn will accompany the Symphony at its annual Pops Concert, at Delaware Valley College. Ms. Kuhn, a three-time Tony nominee, sang the title role in Disney’s Pocahontas, and Les Miserables.

The Symphony’s annual Spring Concert on Saturday, April 30th at 8:00pm at Central Bucks High School South, celebrating Music Director Gary S. Fagin’s 10th anniversary with the Orchestra, will feature a special performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, accompanied by the Bucks County Choral Society, and featuring Academy of Vocal Arts soloists Indra Thomas, Cynthia Cook, Jeffrey Halili, and Jason Switzer.

Concert tickets are $18 per person ($20 at the door); $15 for senior citizens. Students are admitted free of charge. Tickets for the Pops Concert are $60.
