"A Dry Garden" will be the featured program at the monthly meeting of the Trevose Horticultural Society on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 7:00PM at the Wood River Village Auditorium, 3200 Bensalem Boulevard, Bensalem, PA.
Inspired by a trip to Southern France, guest speaker, Jenny Rose Carey installed a dry garden on her 4.5 acre property in Ambler, PA where an exhibit of plants has thrived without any additional watering for the last 6 years. Carey is currently Director of the Landscape Arboretum of Temple University and lectures country wide on topics ranging from herbs, bulbs and sustainable garden practices to gardens of the world. Born to a family of gardeners and botanists in London, England, she was brought up in an agricultural village in Kent. Carey earned a degree in Biology followed by post graduate studies in Education at Oxford University. After marriage, motherhood and relocating to America she received a degree in Horticulture from Temple University. An active member of the Garden Club of Philadelphia, she served on the National Garden History and Design Committee as a Vice Chairman.
All meetings are open to the public; a donation of $3 is requested from non-members. For further information, please contact 856/866-9163.
