The Yardley Historical Association will hold a Mother’s Day Plant Sale on Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old Library by Lake Afton, 46 West Afton Avenue in Yardley. Pots of flowering plants will be waiting to be specially decorated. Surprise Mom or Grandma or anyone who likes Yardley and its ducks with a pretty plant that has an additional surprise – a little yellow duck hand-decorated by you. There will be duck decorating materials and bows on hand to create these unique Yardley gifts. Plants without ornamentation also will be available for purchase. . The Friends of the Delaware Canal will host an illustrated program, “The Delaware and Raritan Canal in New Jersey – Our Perfect Sister” on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Library by Lake Afton, 46 West Afton Avenue, Yardley, PA. For 21 miles, the Delaware and Raritan Canal in New Jersey and the Delaware Canal in Pennsylvania are sisters separated by the River. From Bull’s Island, NJ/ Lumberville, PA to Trenton, NJ/Morrisville, PA, they run parallel on either side of the Delaware. It would seem that the canals would have very similar stories, but they don’t. The program is free and open to the public.
